Every hybrid swimbait lives or dies by its head. It carries the hook, sets the sink rate, and decides whether the bait tracks true or rolls on the retrieve. This is how we custom-mold high-density ABS heads in our own factory — and what OEM buyers should check before signing with any lure manufacturer.
Why high-density ABS
ABS grades for lure heads are chosen by density and impact strength, not by color. High-density ABS (1.05–1.08 g/cm³) gives a head that: cracks instead of shattering on tooth impact, holds internal threads for quick-connect systems, and machines cleanly for tight connector tolerances. Softer styrenics may mold faster, but they creep under hook-wire pressure — a returning complaint we eliminated years ago by switching grades.
CNC mold machining, in-house
Our molds are cut in-house on CNC machining centers from pre-hardened steel. For a pike swimbait head, the critical dimensions are the connector pocket (±0.05 mm), the hook-wire channel (±0.08 mm), and the bait-to-head interface plane. An off-spec pocket of just 0.2 mm lets the soft body wobble — customers see it as a "rolling" bait, and they are right.

Molding parameters we control
- Melt temperature: held within ±3 °C per grade — too hot and the surface gloss hides internal voids.
- Injection pressure & hold: profiled so the pocket walls pack out without flash entering the hook channel.
- Cooling time: never shortened below the grade's minimum; a warped head passes visual QC and fails on the water.
The QC gates every OEM head passes
Golden sample approval comes with a swim-test video, not just photos. Mass production then runs piece-by-piece checks on pocket fit and connector snap force, plus batch pull tests on the finished joint. Only after that do heads move to the soft-body injection line.
Custom program, low MOQ
Stock-color OEM heads start at 100 pieces per color and weight; full custom molds and private-label packaging from 500 pieces. Send us a 3D file (.stp / .igs) or a reference bait — quotation within 48 hours, pre-production samples in 7–15 days. Start a custom-mold inquiry →
