Paddle-tail (shad) bodies kick hardest on a straight, steady retrieve and are the safest all-rounder. Curl-tail grubs such as the SL1003 (16.5 cm and 22.8 cm, 26 g and 58 g) sweep widest and slowest, which is what cold-water and heavily pressured pike respond to. Fork-tail baits such as the pre-rigged SL1011 track straight at speed and sink fast, making them the choice for deep vertical work rather than shallow cover.

Most Sunlure soft plastics ship as unrigged bare bodies with no hook and no internal weight, so you match them to your own jighead. The SL1002, SL1003 and SL1004 monster swimbaits are unrigged and pair with jigheads from 10 g to 150 g, screw-lock stinger harnesses or offset EWG hooks. For pike, thread an 8 in / 20.3 cm SL1002 paddle tail onto a shallow-screw stinger harness so the body tracks straight, and add a single stinger behind the tail to convert short strikes. For zander in current, drop to the 6 in / 15.2 cm body on a 10-30 g jighead, keep the rod tip low and make long, slow lifts so the tail thumps as the bait falls. Always check local regulations first: some waters permit single hooks only.
